Abortion Looks Like
Abortion Looks Like aims to change the narrative around abortion and reduce the stigma associated with it. The project allows people who have had an abortion to share their stories in a simple yet powerful way – on a postcard. Participants portray their abortion experience(s) through words, art, collage, or any other medium that speaks to them and fits on a postcard!
Embracing the idea that a picture is worth a thousand words, this project challenges conventional ideas about what abortion looks like. These visual stories convey the varied reasons people choose abortion and the complex and wide-ranging feelings people have about their decision(s). Abortion Looks Like also gives individuals a new way to think about, process, and share their experiences.
A gallery of postcards will be displayed at the 2017 WIN.NYC Winter Party (date to be announced later this year).
All postcards must follow our submission guidelines. We will have blank postcards and art supplies at the Feminist Flag Day Summer Party (June 14th) for you to make postcards. You can also create and send a postcard depicting what abortion is to you to the WIN.NYC PO Box:
Women's Information Network, NYC
PO Box 1057
New York, NY 10276
While we cannot mail postcards and supplies to individuals, a downloadable postcard template is coming soon - stay tuned!
