WIN.NYC Ambassador​ 

 

WIN.NYC is looking for engaged, motivated women to join the 2019 Ambassador team. If you are a creative thinker and a team player, with a passion for planning events, this is the opportunity for you!

 

What will you do?

Ambassadors play an essential volunteer role, leading the creation and implementation of programming dedicated to WIN.NYC’s founding pillars of Pro-Choice Values, Political Action, Professional Development, and Personal Activism. Ambassadors work together in small groups to plan and execute in person events that aim to draw between 20 -50 participants. To see a list of previous events click here.

 

Responsibilities for the 2019 year include:

 

  • Planning and executing quarterly events that support one of the four pillars of WIN.NYC

    • Secure event locations, plan programming, partner with relevant organizations in NYC, secure any donations, submit event promotion plan and recruit participants

  • As a member of small ambassador team, attend regular monthly meetings or calls to ensure timely event planning and marketing success.

  • Support WIN.NYC Special events through attendance and/or ticket sales

  • Overseeing member engagement and participation in quarterly events

  • Contributing to WIN.NYC social media presence as well as online visibility

  • Attending 3 mandatory Ambassador meetings during the program year

 

What support and training will you receive?

 

This leadership role is one with significant exposure to our 3,000+ membership base. Through this volunteer experience, ambassadors can expect to grow in the areas of coordination, relationship building, group problem-solving, outreach, and negotiation. Our program year from January 2019 - December 2019 includes 3 in-person training sessions for ambassadors and multiple opportunities for online learning. These trainings are developed with input from ambassadors by WIN.NYC’s Director of Training. Ambassadors will collaborate with and report to the Director of Programs and Deputy Director of Programs.

Finance & Operations Director

 

WIN.NYC is looking for a Finance & Operations Director, who will be responsible for managing the organization's funds in a responsible way that minimizes risk, and enables WIN NYC to serve its mission, as well as maintaining the systems that allow for a well-organized workflow.

 

You should apply if: you love being organized, a good spreadsheet, working with other women to make s*!t happen, keeping the trains on the tracks, and WIN. Top candidates will have experience managing the finances and day-to-day operations of a nonprofit or other organization.

 

The duties of WIN NYC Finance & Operations director will encompass, but not be limited to,

 

FINANCE DUTIES:

 

  • Preparing the annual budget for WIN NYC in general;

  • Monitoring adherence to annual budget;

  • Working with other directors to set reasonable expense and revenue goals;

  • Developing long-range budgets and other supportive planning work with Chair and other directors;

  • Managing and monitoring all deposit accounts held in WIN NYC’s name;

  • Managing all WIN NYC cashflow, forecasting, and any related borrowing needs;

  • Ensuring protocols for financial transactions are documented in a manual available for Executive Committee perusal and routinely review the manual to ensure it is up-to-date;

  • Paying all vendors, WIN.NYC team members, and other related bills in a timely manner;

  • Filing appropriate state and federal tax-related documentation and reporting, including but not limited to IRS Form 990 and NYS CHAR 500;

  • Providing comprehensive reporting on figures to Executive Committee members upon request; and

  • Hiring and evaluating investment managers, auditors, general accountants, or other financially related outside consul as deemed necessary by the Finance Director and Chair;

  • Attend monthly Executive Committee meetings

 

OPERATIONS DUTIES:

 

  • Working with other Directors in order to facilitate optimal work-flow;

  • Assist Chair in administrative duties (checking emails, checking Post Office Box, organizing meeting minutes and agendas,etc);

  • Support Executive Committee Meeting functions (ordering food, etc);

  • Organize (or support organization thereof) Annual Events for Executive Committee (annual retreat, year-end Holiday party, etc).

Development Director

 

WIN.NYC is looking for a Development Director, who will maintain and grow our relationships with partner organizations, businesses, and donors. The Development Director will manage our fundraising efforts, and cultivate long-lasting, symbiotic and collaborative relationships to enable WIN.NYC to serve our mission.

 

You should apply if: you love people, finding areas of mutual passion, building collaborative partnerships, and WIN. Top candidates will have experience fundraising for nonprofits.

 

The duties of WIN NYC Development Director will encompass, but not be limited to:

 

  • Meeting prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them;

  • Growing a gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of donors;

  • Directing the annual fund program, annual fundraising events;

  • Overseeing prospect research;

  • Working closely with the Executive Committee and Governing Board;

  • Making public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about WIN.NYC with partner orgs and the community;

  • Attending monthly Executive Committee meetings;

  • Helping select, then overseeing fundraising database and tracking systems in partnership with the Finance & Operations Director;

  • Supervising and collaborating with other development staff;

  • Overseeing creation of materials to support development activities;

  • Maintaining gift recognition programs

Communications Director

 

WIN.NYC is looking for a Communications Director to help us build WIN’s recognition across the city. The Communications Director will be responsible for managing all communications activities and building external relationships with WIN’s partners, including at times media and donors. The Comms Director will work in partnership with the Development, Social Media, and Web teams, to craft content that is consistent with our brand voice and conveys our values.
 

You should apply if: you love to write sassy content geared toward progressive feminists, the finer points of both internal and external communications, and WIN. Top candidates will be communications professionals with branding experience.

 

The duties of WIN NYC Communications Director will encompass, but not be limited to:

 

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating an annual communications plan across the WIN’s audiences in collaboration with the social media director, development director  and webmaster;

  • Leading the generation of content for the Google Group, website, and emails that engages our membership and leads to measurable action;

  • Working hand in hand with our Social Media Director;

  • Collaborating with the Ambassador and Event teams to ensure that their content needs for events are met;

  • Coordinating with the Webmaster to ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly;

  • Tracking and measuring the level of engagement within the network over time, particularly with emails, and in conversation with the Membership Director;

  • Managing all media contacts;

  • Attending monthly Executive Committee meetings.

Webmaster

 

WIN.NYC is looking for a Webmaster, who will revamp and maintain our website to keep it fresh and true to our brand. The Webmaster will ensure the website is up-to-date with our latest news and events, and make it a place our members know to go for all things WIN. As part of our communications team, they will also work in close partnership with the Communications Director to ensure consistency with all our digital collateral.

 

You should apply if: you love website design, making things user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing, and WIN. Top candidates will have experience designing websites and working collaboratively with comms teams.

 

The duties of WIN NYC Webmaster will encompass, but not be limited to:

 

  • Designing website pages that are user-friendly, attractive, and engaging, while remaining true to the WIN brand and promoting our values;

  • Consistently adding new site elements and updates to existing pages to keep the website fresh and interesting;

  • Developing site-wide policies across all webpages to establish a particular cohesive style guide and layout;

  • Once established, helping to train other leaders on using the CRM and other online features;

  • Regularly backing up websites and data;

  • Making sure all website content is optimized for search engines;

  • Tracking increases and decreases in traffic;

  • Working with the communications and development teams to develop short- and long-term promotions online.

Membership Associate

WIN.NYC is looking for Membership Associates to help grow the WIN.NYC community in-person and digitally. They will work with the Membership Director and Deputy Director, Partnerships, to collaborate with our partner organizations, established and new, to be a WIN presence at events, spreading the word about our community and identifying new collaborative opportunities.

 

Membership Associates will work closely with the Ambassador and Special Events teams to provide access to membership opportunities at WIN.NYC events and ensure close lines of communication between our teams.

 

Applicants should have excellent writing skills, be prompt and responsive, and enjoy speaking to new people. Must have the ability to work independently and in partnership with a team, and will also need to be self-directed and willing to take initiative.

 

Membership Associates will report to the Membership Director. This is an unpaid, volunteer position, averaging 2-4 hours of work per week. Women, people of color, people with disabilities, transgender people and individuals with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply from all disciplines.
